After this year of challenges, we're happy to have given our support where it counts. Not just to our valued clients, but also in helping some local sports teams get back to the game. Look out for Jemsar Engineering at your local football and cricket matches in Grimsby, Cleethorpes, Immingham, Brigg and Caistor.
Jemsar expands its services into steelwork and piping with the arrival of a new project manager who has a wealth of experience working both on this refinery as well as many other oil and gas facilities. With several steelwork and piping jobs already complete, involving on-site machine cutting and welding of pipework, we're keen to expand our services into these new areas. A special thanks to J&M Mechanical for the off-site fabrication of steelwork.
A pandemic will do many things but it won't dampen Jemsar's desire to provide an excellent mechanical service wherever possible. We've furloughed nearly all of our workforce now and have retained 100% of our team on the books under the UK Government's job retention scheme. At home, our employees are given opportunities to further their skills with online training seminars provided by the ECITB and local training providers such as HIRD in Hull. We work in a key industry and where there is work, we continue to provide our services on essential projects during this difficult time, while strictly adhering to social distancing practices and the use of appropriate PPE and RPE.
It's early morning and a new piece of the refinery skyline is appearing, with a Jemsar flag flying as our team of mechanical engineers and rigging professionals carefully place this 60 tonne vessel down on the concrete plinth. With help from Ainscough and a lot of careful planning, a 500t and 200t crane were used to top-and-tail this large vessel into place. Watch the time-lapse footage here.
With some major projects on the books this year, Jemsar come prepared with enough tools and equipment to support a 50-strong team of professional mechanical fitters and support trades. Our tools and equipment storeman has been busy painting and engraving all of our stock. We use the best tools available from manufacturers such as Gedore and King Dick, which are all inspected and maintained to a high standard.
Jemsar Engineering are spotted pulling bundles in the sky, at over 70ft up. We completed our first shutdown of the year on this refinery in Ellesmere port. Thanks again to the team for a job well done, safely and on schedule.
What better start to the new year than some recognition from one of our most respected clients, for our persistent and continuous efforts in working safely. In engineering and construction, safety is paramount and we are proud to stand out for it. The awards Jemsar won this time around were for early reporting of unidentified issues around site and for scoring full marks on our site audits. Thank you to everyone involved at Jemsar for upholding a solid safety culture.
